The Workhorse of Midlife: Generativity

December 27, 2017

What is Generativity?  Most of us don't think about it, but those of us who don't reach the life stage of Generativity are left Stagnant, and unfulfilled.

Who better to define it than Dan McAdams, Professor at Northwestern University, author, and authority on Generativity.  "Generativity has a lot of good things going for it." Some benefits:  Highly generative individuals are more involved and effective parents, more involved in their communities and benefit from better health and well being.

The Mentor Project documents the role of mentoring and its powerful impact not only on the mentees but the mentor. During my research what I discovered was astonishing. After nearly45 in-depth interviews all the participants unanimously said being a mentor changed their life. It is now my mission to let others know the value and benefits mentors receive from giving back."
