The Longest Lasting New Year's Resolution

January 1, 2018

It's that time of year when we give ourselves the opportunity to start a new chapter.  We make lists of vices to abandon and virtues to develop over the next 365 days.  What if I told you there is a way to leave a lasting mark on 2018, change lives, and lead a healthier physical and emotional life (WITHOUT DIET AND EXERCISE!).  There is a way and it requires only one thing of you: giving.  That is right.  The adage "Tis Better to Give than to Receive" is actually true.  Giving Back is free, and those who do this reap bigger rewards than those who Give Up.

Here's one way you can do this in 2018: Mentor someone.

Whatever you area of knowledge - you can mentor!  Some of the most successful mentors we've met at The Mentor Project are:

- School teachers

- Technology Innovators

- Professors

- Actors

- Retired MLB Players

- Judges

- Lawyers

- Grandparents

- Colonel (Marines)

- General (Marines)

- Stepparent

- Coaches

- Faith Leaders

- Artist

- Filmmaker

- Immigrant

- Social Media Maven

- Authors

- Comedy Writer

You fill in the blank for yourself.

What values, skills, passion, or knowledge do you want to pass on?  What do you want your mark on the world to be?  You have the opportunity to influence someone, change a community, and to change the world.  So, when making your resolution this year, make one that will change you and change someone else!

It's never too late - and it is your one opportunity to have your cake and eat it too :)

Happy New Year~

The Mentor Project documents the role of mentoring and its powerful impact not only on the mentees but the mentor. During my research what I discovered was astonishing. After nearly45 in-depth interviews all the participants unanimously said being a mentor changed their life. It is now my mission to let others know the value and benefits mentors receive from giving back."
